Clannad After Story

As some may know, my favorite anime is Clannad After Story. This is the most moving anime I have ever watched, I don't care what people call me for watching this anime, it's the best. With both Clannad, and Clannad After Story, it gives you a grip on what life of the upper grades in high school and what life after high school is really like. Clannad, and Clannad After Story is about a young man named Tomoya Okazaki helping a young girl named Nagisa Furukawa restore the Drama club, Nagisa is as the anime calls her a "Repeater" which means she repeated a year. That year happens to be her third, also known as the last year for high schoolers in japan.

Standing at the bottom of the hill of her high school, she stand there talking to her self, and it ready to turn around and walk home. But Tomoya says something to her, and stops her from walking away. Closer to the end of the anime, Tomoya and Nagisa start going out, which leads the story to go on in Clannad After Story. For the starting of Clannad After Story their still in high school, and just about ready to graduate, Nagisa falls ill, and ends up having to repeat the third year again. As Nagisa repeats her third year, Tomoya and their other friends have either moved away, going to school again, or has just found a job.

Tomoya is now living on his own in a small little apartment, Nagisa now wakes him up, makes him breakfast, and sees him off to work. Well she is busy at school, with only a few friends she knew from last year, when they were in their second year. When times comes, winter follows. Nagisa gets sick again, but this time she had enough time under her belt to pass her last year. But she missed out on her graduation.

As time passes, Nagisa and Tomoya get married, and move in together. And before long, Nagisa becomes pregnant. It becomes hard on the both of them, Tomoya having to provide for both Nagisa and their up in coming child, Tomoya starts to worry about both Nagisa's and their child's heath. And Tomoya was right to worry, Nagisa becomes ill out of the blue. She goes in to labor, but is to sick to be moved, so she has a home birth.

Note: This next part has more spoilers then what you have already read.

In this part of the anime, Nagisa dies in child birth. Tomoya falls in to a deep depression after Nagisa's death. Their child also named Ushio Okazaki, has been living with Nagisa's mother and father for the past five years, Tomoya on the other hand has been caught up in his work, and doesn't see his daughter very much. Nagisa's mother made plans for Tomoya and Oshio to go on a trip together, and Tomoya realizes that hes becoming a lot like his father, and that his father was really doing every thing in the world for him.

Tomoya makes up with his father, and he becomes more of a father to Oshio. Oshio finally moves in with tomoya, and tomoya gets to meet Oshio's teacher, Just to find out that Oshio's teacher was one of Tomoya's old friends from high school. Kyou Fujibayashi was once one of Tomoya's and Nagisa's friends in high school, and is now their daughter's teacher.

But time passes again, and Oshio falls ill. She want to go on another trip with her father. Tomoya keeps saying after you get better, but he ends up breaking down and takes her on a trip. They don't get far when Oshio starts to fill sick again, and ends up falling down. There in Tomoya's arms Oshio says "Daddy, I love you" and sadly dies in his arms.

In the episode after that, it has a back story or Tomoya and Nagisa. Tomoya keeps saying that it was better that they never met. Tomoya snaps out of a trans, and finds out Nagisa never died, and lives through the birth of Oshio. Both Nagisa and Oshio live a happy and healthy life.

I have to say, this is the first show/movie that has every made me cry. There is something that I found on the MyAnimeList website, and its what someone had to say about clannad, and I must say I agree 100%

From Bentoben

I laughed...
I cried...
I experienced something that changed my life...

In a nutshell, Clannad ~After Story~ influenced the way I will live for the rest of my life and not just in some half-assed way like any other show would. It legitimately moved me to make certain decisions, for better or for worse. In that sense, no other anime can compare, as no other anime has provided an equivalent reaction on my part.

This is an amazing anime, and will always be my favorite. I'm now re-watching the thing, it is that good of an anime. So please give this anime a try, you wont regret it.
